Welcome to North Farmington High School's Automotive Technology Program website. Mr. Dave Verbeke our Automotive Technology Instructor. The program at North is a NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) certified program in the specific areas of Electrical/Electronics, Steering/Suspension, HVAC, Brakes, Auto & manual transmissions, and Engine performance. Our program has been NATEF certified since for over 15+ years. The Automotive Technology program is made up of four major courses, Mechanics I MLR1 (Maintenance & Light Repair) , Mechanic II MLR2 , Advanced Auto Technology I and Advanced Auto Technology II. This is an excellent program for any one pursuing a career as a Technician, Engineer, Trades, or a student that wants to develop hands on practical skills in a real world work environment. The student learns to use and apply their academic skills in a hands on approach using machines, tools. Students are engaged in a clean safe environment gaining a sense of pride as he/she develops real live skills for the future. The automotive student is exposed to many different opportunities to develop their personal mechanical abilities, forming a confident/wise consumer, skills in diagnosing, repair, and problem solving. By following the NATEF task the program prepares the student to take the State Mechanic Tests (NATEF MLR G-1 Test) in five areas (Brakes, Steering & Suspension, Electrical/Electrical Systems, Automatic Trans, & Engine Repair) . North Farmington is now a State test site for the Michigan Automotive Mechanic state license. Special thanks to Jonathan Azer for his time in developing our site.
